Temple Square in Downtown Salt Lake City

LDS Temple - Salt Lake Temple Square
When you’re in downtown Salt Lake City, be sure to visit Temple Square, the worldwide headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Temple Square is home to the historic Salt Lake Temple, the Tabernacle (home to the world-renown Mormon Tabernacle Choir), the Assembly Hall, and numerous monuments, fountains, and statues. Temple Square is the most visited attraction in the entire state of Utah and is well worth your time. Free tours are offered daily. Two large visitor centers with films, paintings, and an 11-foot replica of Thorvaldsen's Christus are additional on site attractions.

The Salt Lake Temple is cut out of the granite found in Little Cottonwood Canyon, East of Salt Lake. Temple Square is a 10-acre plot of ground that draws millions of people from all over the world each year.

The Church's new spectacular Conference Center is now open across the street from Temple Square. Other related nearby attractions include the Museum of Church History and Art, the Family History Library (where anyone is invited to come do genealogical research on their own family), the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Church Office Building, and the Beehive House and Lion House (homes of former Mormon leader Brigham Young).

Seven Major Utah Ski Resorts

Salt Lake City is a ski bum's dream; the city is within an easy 30-minute drive to any of seven major ski resorts! Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, and Solitude, are the most closely located to Salt Lake City. The Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are all found in Park City - only 30 minutes away. Whichever resort you choose, you are sure to find the "greatest snow on earth." Whether you ski just one resort, or experience all seven, the Skyline Inn's location is ideal. You can ski the slopes by day, and are then free to enjoy all that Salt Lake City has to offer in the nighttime! It's like combining two incredible trips into one! Try skiing in Utah's powder just once and you'll find out the real reason they picked Utah for 2002 Olympic Games. Experience some of the world's finest powder!

For added convenience, the Skyline Inn is located across the street from the U.T.A. Ski bus. The bus makes frequent runs to these excellent resorts, freeing you to dream about your day on the slopes, instead of focusing on the road!

Utah's Hogle Zoo

Salt Lake’s world-class Hogle Zoo is open 364 days a year. Take your kids to the Hogle Zoo for a change of pace. The Great Salt Lake

The Great Salt Lake is all that is left of historic Lake Bonneville. Legends about the lake are widespread. A trip to Salt Lake City would be incomplete without a trip to the famed lake. Named for its high salinity (26%), swimmers in the Great Salt Lake float like a cork! Other popular activities include sailing, bird watching, wildlife spotting, and cruises (some dinner cruises are offered!). The park can be reached via one of two state parks: Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake park.
